Vietnamese communist party meeting passes key leadership nomination

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPVCC) passed the list of nominations for key leadership positions of the party and state in the next tenure with concentrated votes after a three-day meeting which closed Wednesday.

The 14th plenary session of the 11th CPVCC was held in Vietnam' s capital Hanoi from Monday to Wednesday. This was the final session of the 11th CPVCC before the 12th National Congress of the CPV which is slated on Jan. 20-28 in Hanoi.

During the session, regarding personnel work, the CPVCC had discussed in a "democratic and straightforward manner," and voted to adopt the nomination of several members of the 11th CPVCC for re-election in the 12th tenure as "special" cases, along with nominations of Politburo members and CPVCC Secretariat of the 11th tenure for re-election in the 12th tenure as "special" cases, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.

The CPVCC also reached consensus on the Politburo's proposal on nomination lists of the Presidium, the Secretariat, and the Committee for Appraising Delegates of the 12th National Party Congress.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 14th session, General Secretary of the 11th CPVCC Nguyen Phu Trong said the three-day convene took place in a serious and democratic manner as delegates had a high level of responsibility and duty to the country, reported VNA.

At the session, participants also reached consensus on the signing and ratification of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in accordance with domestic law on signing and joining international treaties. Participants agreed that the opportunities from the TPP are enormous; however, challenges and difficulties will lie ahead.
