China to keep playing constructive role in political settlement of Ukraine crisis: Foreign Ministry

China will continue to play a constructive role in the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing on Thursday.

Noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping held phone talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday, Mao said the two sides exchanged views on China-Ukraine relations and the Ukraine crisis.

Speaking out for peace, China has been doing its best to facilitate peace talks since the escalation of the Ukraine crisis, which is being widely recognized by the international community, Mao said.

China's stance can be summed up in one sentence: promoting talks for peace, she said.
