China is willing to work with Grenada to open up new prospects for bilateral cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with Foreign Minister of Grenada Joseph Andall in Beijing.

Grenada is an important country in the Caribbean and a friendly cooperative partner of China, Wang noted.

Since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, China and Grenada have always upheld mutual respect and treated each other equally, Wang said, adding that bilateral relations have become increasingly mature.

China highly appreciates Grenada's adhering to the one-China principle and respects its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, Wang said, voicing support for Grenada in exploring a development path suited to its national conditions.

Hailing the fruitful results of China-Grenada cooperation, Andall, for his part, said Grenada will firmly adhere to the one-China principle.

The Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by China are conducive to promoting world peace, stability, development and fairness, and are of great significance to small and medium-sized countries, he said. He added that Grenada will actively participate in these initiatives.
