A suicide bomber targeted a military camp killing at least four people and injuring five soldiers in the Nawa district of the southern Afghan Helmand province on Saturday, spokesman for provincial government Omar Zawak said.

"A Taliban terrorist driving an explosive-laden car was attempting to enter a military camp but was identified and shot dead by security personnel outside the camp this morning. However, two more terrorists accompanying the suicide bomber opened fire on security personnel triggering the firefight," Zawak told reporters.

The militancy-plagued and opium-rich Helmand province has been regarded as Afghanistan's center for Taliban activity.
