The Philippine government said Tuesday that it is determined to resolve journalist killings following the death of a radio reporter on Saturday and after an international group tagged the country as one of the worst impunity havens due to consistent unresolved murders of journalists.

"We certainly condemn all these senseless killings (of) journalists. The journalists play a role in civil society," Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda told reporters.

He said authorities would always pursue any leads to resolve journalist killings.

"We will continue to look for and investigate all these matters, " he said.

The Brussels-based International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) , a global organization of journalists, has included the Philippines on its focus in global campaign against impunity on the killing of journalists.

On Saturday night, a reporter of radio station dwIZ was shot dead by unidentified suspects in Quezon City, Metro Manila.
