British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday said the nuclear threat from countries like the DPRK and Iran has increased since cold war and having nuclear deterrent is the best insurance policy.
In a speech at the factory of a defense contractor in Glasgow broadcast live by Sky News, Cameron backed Britain's nuclear deterrent, reinforcing the importance of the Trident nuclear deterrent while stressing the importance of the defense industry to Scotland's economy.
Cameron on Thursday also visited HMS Victorious, one of Britain's nuclear Vanguard submarines which carry its nuclear missiles, welcoming home the crew of the submarine as they returned from their 100th patrol.
It is the prime minister's first visit to a nuclear submarine and came after he warned it would be "foolish" to axe Trident given the potential threat from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Iran.
