MOUNT QOMOLANGMA BASE CAMP, May 5 (Xinhua) --Waste disposal facilitieshave beeninstalled at the Mount Qomolangma base camp within the core area of the Qomolangma National Nature Reserve, to help reduce the impact of human activities on the mountain environment. The facilities can meet the needs of more than 200 people per day to deal with their kitchen waste and sanitary sewage.

China's environmental authority last year vowed consistent efforts to protect the environment at Mount Qomolangma National Nature Reserve in Tibet Autonomous Region. Efforts were taken to strengthen monitoring, enhance mountaineering trash clean-ups, reduce tourism and climbing activity-generated pollution and rectify irregularities.

Founded in 1988, Mount Qomolangma National Nature Reserve in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region covers a 33,800-sq-km area that encompasses the world's most vulnerable ecosystems.
