Since the calling off of talks between Talban and the US at Camp David, violence has continued in Afghanistan.
Recently an official informed that a foreign national had died in a grenade attack on a United Nations (UN) vehicle. The incident took place in the capital of the country, Kabul.
The infomation was given by the interior ministry spokesperson, Nasrat Rahimi. Further details including information about the victim’s nationality are still being awaited.
Besides one death, five people from Afghanistan and two UN local staff members were also wounded in the attack. Till now no terror organizatuon has accepted its involvement.
However, amongst the news of violence, positive developments have also marked the past few days.
On Thursday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) released 10 Afghani security force members that has been kidnapped by the Taliban.
In a statement, Juan Pedro Schaerer, the ICRC’s head of delegation in Afghanistan said, “The 10 Afghan National Security Forces members were released and handed over to the ICRC in Helmand Province, in the District of Nahr-e Saraj.”
“We transferred them across the frontline to Lashkar Gah where we handed them over to the Afghan authorities at the governor’s office,” the stateent added.
