Three US Army Special Forces soldiers killed in Niger

Three US Army Special Forces soldiers were killed and two were wounded in an ambush in Niger on Wednesday while on a routine patrol with the Nigerien troops they were training, the New York Times reported, citing US military officials.

Earlier, a spokesman for US Africa Command said a joint US-Nigerien patrol had "come under hostile fire" in southwest Niger, without speculating on the number of casualties.
