Blast at Pakistan mosque kills 14

A powerful explosion tore through a mosque in southwest Pakistan during Friday evening prayers killing a senior police officer, along with 13 others, the Associated Press reports.

The explosion wounded another 20 worshippers, with many of them in critical condition.

According to authorities, the slain police officer was the likely target, but they are still investigating the situation. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The bombing took place in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and Balochistan's chief minister condemned the attack.

Pakistan's military issued a statement saying soldiers were at the scene to assist civil authorities.
