As part of the 16th Beijing Olympic City Sports and Cultural Festival, a youth team challenge event was launched on Saturday at the China Administration of Sports for Persons with Disabilities in Beijing's Shunyi district.

The competition features five disciplines: a 400-meter track sprint, ice obstacle slalom, basketball skills, bicycle slalom, and soccer skills.

Participants are divided into two age categories: U12 for 10- to 12-year-olds and U9 for 6- to 9-year-olds. Each five-member team must complete all five events, with individual athletes specializing in one discipline. Team rankings are determined by aggregating each member's completion time. The event attracted 500 young participants.

This challenge aims to promote Olympic values, spread Olympic culture, and inspire youth enthusiasm for sports participation. It serves as both a competitive platform and an immersive educational experience, helping young participants better understand the deeper meaning of the Olympic spirit through athletic competition and teamwork.

Since its inception in 2022, the event has been hosted at the China Administration of Sports for Persons with Disabilities, one of the world's largest comprehensive training bases for athletes with disabilities. The facility boasts extensive training grounds and venues for both summer and winter sports.

High-quality facilities and comprehensive event services have continuously enhanced the standard of the competition, making the challenge more enjoyable, accessible, and attractive. In recent years, all available slots have been quickly filled upon release, with participation annually maintained at around 500 athletes.
