4 killed, 10 injured as blast hits Pakistan's garrison city Rawalpindi

At least four people were killed and 10 others including three children were injured in a blast that hit Pakistan's garrison city of Rawalpindi on Monday morning, local media reported.

According to the reports, the blast took place at 7:35 a.m. local Time in the Royal Artillery Bazaar, a residential and commercial area near the General Headquarters of Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi, a neighboring city of capital Islamabad.

Police, security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the nearby hospital.

The huge explosion, which was heard miles away, damaged many motorcycles and vehicles besides smashing the window panes of nearby buildings.

Nature of the blast was not known yet.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the nearby areas.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
