The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MOSCOW -- Russia has registered the world's first vaccine against the novel coronavirus, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

"As far as I know, this morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus infection has been registered," Putin said during an online meeting with the Russian government.

KAMPALA -- Uganda on Tuesday reported 16 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the east African country to 1,313, the ministry of health said.

Out of the 2,250 samples collected over the past 24 hours, 12 alert cases, two contacts of previously confirmed cases, a Ugandan cross-border truck driver who arrived from South Sudan and a returnee from Kenya who was under quarantine tested positive for the virus, said the ministry in a statement issued here.

NUR-SULTAN -- Kazakhstan registered 722 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking its total to 100,164, including 1,269 deaths and 73,702 recoveries.

From Aug. 1 to 11, Kazakhstan has also recorded 13,337 pneumonia cases with clinical signs of COVID-19, with 173 pneumonia-related deaths.

KUWAIT CITY -- Kuwait on Tuesday reported 668 new COVID-19 cases and four more deaths, raising the tally of infections to 73,068 and the death toll to 486, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Currently, 7,823 patients are receiving treatment, including 110 in ICU, the statement added.

The ministry also announced the recovery of 731 more patients, raising the total recoveries in the country to 64,759.

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan reported 278 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the country's total infections to 40,455.

Ainura Akmatova, head of the country's public health care department, told a daily news briefing that eight of the new patients are medical workers, while the caseload of infected medical workers has reached 2,967, of whom 2,212 have recovered.

BEIJING -- No new locally-transmitted confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Beijing on Monday, the municipal health commission said Tuesday.

The city also reported no new imported confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases on Monday, according to the commission.

MOSCOW -- Russia registered 4,945 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its total to 897,599, the country's COVID-19 response center said in a statement Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 130 new deaths were reported, taking the nationwide toll to 15,131.
