There’s a popular kitchenware store in Japan where all your day-to-day kitchen utensils can be found, but there's just one small caveat: They're only a fraction of the normal size.

The store owner used to run a metal components workshop and began to make miniature kitchen utensils 16 years ago. His miniature kitchen utensils can be used for cooking because they’re made from the exact same materials.

The owner says most of his sales are online. A coin size pan costs 1,400 yen (about 13 US dollars). It’s even more expensive than ordinary pans for everyday use. And an entire miniature restaurant set may hit 600,000 yen (about 5,507 US dollars) or more..

Many restaurant owners visited the store to customize miniature models and secure publicity for their businesses. And many customers from overseas are also interested in the tiny kitchenware and came to the store in Japan.

Besides miniature kitchenware, Joken from Japan went viral because of his videos of cooking with miniature kitchenware. Joken has filmed more than 200 miniature kitchen cooking videos and has more than 1.2 million followers. These films represent a variety of cooking styles of Japanese cuisine and common food like spaghetti.

Joken is careful in the selection of ingredients. For example, he would use sakura shrimp which are only four to five centimeters long. His video gives people a sense of novelty and cute, remembering our childhoods.
