Russia reports over 10,000 coronavirus cases for 9 consecutive days

Russia confirmed 11,656 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 221,344, the country's coronavirus task force said on Monday.

Nine more fatalities from the disease were also recorded, bringing the death toll to 2,009.

Russia has now reported the third highest number of coronavirus infections around the world, overtaking the UK and Italy, according to the latest data released by Johns Hopkins University.
