Hollywood struggles in China, the world’s largest movie market

Thecoronavirus pandemic has dealt a heavy blow to Hollywood. U.S. movie studios are eyeing foreign theaters in their recovery efforts.

China has traditionally been a key market for American films, but it has also grown increasingly self-reliant in recent years, with a growing number of higher quality local work competing with foreign imported productions.

It comes as 2020 became a landmark for China’s film industry taking over Hollywood with the world’s largest box office sales.
