Vietnam tops 10th ASEAN Skills Competition medal tally

Vietnam tops among the participants of the 10th ASEAN Skills Competition which finished here on Tuesday.

During the six-day competition, Vietnam grasped 15 gold, six silver and six bronze medals, according to the online newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Vietnam was followed by Indonesia with nine golds and Malaysia with eight gold medals.

The ASEAN Skills Competition is held every two years for the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN) to present talents on skills and advanced technologies in the sector of vocational training.

The first event was organized in Malaysia in 1995 with the participation of four countries.

Vietnam first hosted the event in 2004, welcoming 153 candidates from eight countries and winning 13 gold medals.

The ASEAN groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
