Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Tuesday, calling for common prosperity for the two countries.
The vice premier recalled the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic relations in 1979, when Carter served as the U.S. president.
Ties between the now first and second largest economies began to normalize after former U.S. President Richard Nixon first visited China, in 1972.
Li says, thanks to the joint efforts of several generations of leaders and people, China-U.S. relations have matured greatly...
And called on Carter to use his influence to share the "true China" with Americans.
Carter hailed the progress of China and U.S.-China relations over the past decades and expressed his commitment to boosting bilateral cooperation further.
