JAKARTA, Nov. 30 (APD) -- China’s dairy firm inaugurated its Indonesian factory on Thursday, projected to tap robust market potentialities in the Southeast Asia’s largest economy as well as in the region.
The facility ran by China’s leading dairy firm Mengniu was located in Indonesia’s Cikarang industrial zone, designed of capable to produce 260 tons of dairy products to fill Indonesian markets and surrounding countries.
Speaking in the ceremony to inaugurate the facility that produces Mengniu’s YoyiC dairy products, Mengniu Dairy Corporation Global CEO Jeffrey Lu Minfang said Indonesia was opted as its first factory outside China due to the nation’s economic soundness that continues to record positive growth.
Besides that, the developing healthy lifestyle, stable purchase power and life standard that continues to improve have determined Mengniu to build its facility here.
Jeffrey said Mengniu spent some US$ 50 million to construct the factory on a 14,773 square meter-site, designated it as a modern facility completed with high production technology that has been tested in Europe, Oceania countries and China.
Becoming the first Mengniu’s facility to have been operated outside China, the facility that goes by the name of Mengniu Dairy Indonesia is apparently the 60th factory ran by Mengniu. The facility was expected to open up to 1,000 jobs for local workers within next 5 years of operation.
In the initial operation the facility produces liquid yoghurt, dessert yoghurt and probiotic drink.
“We only took 8 months to build this facility. It was the fastest project we had ever been conducted to build a factory that made us very proud of that. It showed what we are capable of,”Jeffrey said in his remarks to address the inauguration, adding that the project was kicked off in Dec. 2017.
Products from the facility were planned to fill up shelves in Indonesian consumer stores in Dec. 1, he added.
Presented to witness the inauguration were Mengniu Overseas Business Global VP Luo Yan, Minister Counselor for Economic and Commerce Affairs at Chinese Embassy Wang Liping and a deputy at Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Bureau (BKPM) Farah Indriani.
In her remarks to address the event Farah conveyed Indonesia’s appreciation for Mengniu to choose and trust Indonesia in opening its facility for Southeast Asia market.
She added that food and beverage was one of top five investments mostly favored by foreign investors.
