Iran reports 1,808 new COVID-19 cases, 114,533 in total

The Iranian health ministry on Thursday reported 1,808 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number in the country to 114,533 since the outbreak in late February, official IRNA news agency reported.

Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said 71 patients died over the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,854 in the country.

Jahanpur noted the number of the recoveries to 90,539, while 2,758 are in critical condition.

The number of lab tests administered across the country stands at 643,772 as of Thursday, according to the health official.

Iran announced its first cases of COVID-19 on Feb. 19.
