DPRK top leader watches military maneuvers

KimJongUn,topleaderoftheDemocraticPeople'sRepublicofKorea(DPRK),watchedrecentmilitarymaneuversinvolvinglandingandanti-landing,theKCNAnewsagencyreportedonSunday.

TakingpartinthedrillsweresurfaceshipsoftheEastSeafleetofthenavy,aircraftfromtheSecondAirDivisionoftheairandanti-airforce,andartillerysub-unitsofthe7thCorpsandthe108thMotorizedInfantryDivision,accordingtotheKCNA.

Satisfiedwiththeexercises,theDPRKleaderorderedtointensifytrainingoftheKoreanPeople'sArmy(KPA)withDPRK-styleideaandtacticstostrengthencoastaldefense,saidtheKCNA,withoutdisclosingtheexactdatesandvenueofthemilitarydrills.

OnMarch12,RepublicofKorea(ROK)andtheUnitedStatescarriedouttheSangyongamphibiousassaultdrillasamajorpartofOPLAN5015whichreportedlyaimsatremovingtheDPRKheadquartersanddestroyingtheDPRK's"weaponsofmassdestruction."

Inresponse,theKPAGeneralStafforderedthatthefirstcombinedtaskunitsintheeastern,centralandwesternsectorsofthefrontbereadyfor"preemptiveretaliatorystrikes"attheenemies.

OnMarch7,ROKandtheUnitedStateskickedoffjointmilitaryexercisescode-named"KeyResolve"and"FoalEagle,"whichrunsthroughApril30.

TheUSandROKmilitarydrills,whicharereportedtobethelargest-everinscaleandwiththemostadvancedweapons,havebeenstronglycondemnedbytheDPRK,whichclaimsthatthedrillsarerehearsalsfornorthwardinvasion.
