Tsunami warning as 7.8 magnitude quake hits off Alaska

A Tsunami warning was issued Wednesday after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit 99 km southeast of Perryville, Alaska at 0612 GMT, according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center.

The warning was issued for South Alaska, the Alaska Peninsula and the Aleutian Islands.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 55.1046 degrees north latitude and 158.4725 degrees west longitude.
