Education ministers of the Group of Seven major nations agreed at a two-day meeting that ended Sunday to promote education to create societies where diversity is valued.

The G-7 education ministers also expressed their determination to enhance education in their respective countries so all children can meet their full potential, in a bid to prevent and counter extremism and terrorism among some segments of young populations.

“We affirm that diversity, which helps everyone achieve their potential and be innovative and creative, is a vital dynamic of further development of today’s society,” the ministers said in the Kurashiki Declaration, which was adopted to sum up their discussions at the meeting in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture.

“Under the recognition that our societies are stronger when diverse populations are inclusive and work together in harmony, we affirm that it is critical to develop people’s cultural and global competencies,” is said.
