Cambodia and Laos have so far achieved 86 percent of joint border demarcation and the two neighbors vowed to fully complete it as soon as possible, a spokesman said Tuesday. "To date, the two countries have erected 121 of the total 145 border markers," Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters after a meeting between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and Laos ambassador to Cambodia Prasith Sayasith.

The two sides agreed to expedite the process of boundary demarcation and hoped that the remaining 14 percent of the demarcation work would be completed as soon as possible, he said, adding that both sides looked forward to building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

Cambodia shares 540 kilometers of border with Laos to the North and Northeast.
