Korean workers sleep only six hours on average but work for more than 10 hours a day, a straw poll suggests.

In an online poll of 700 office workers by job portal Incruit, respondents on average go to bed at 12:15 a.m. and wake up at 6:19 a.m.

But most admitted they would need at least six-and-a-half hours to get through the day.

The average worker arrives at work at 8:30 a.m. and leaves at 6:40 p.m., working an hour's overtime for a nine-to-six day.

Half of the respondents clock in 30 minutes earlier than they have to, while 10 percent said they come more than one hour early. Only 10 percent said they arrive on time.

"Koreans work the second longest hours in the OECD," Incruit CEO Lee Kwang-suk said. "Enough sleep is needed to increase work efficiency, so companies must improve their corporate culture."
