Hakka Festival celebrations begin

The biggest pig wins! This year’s Hakka Festival, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival, was staged in Taiwan. During the festival, carcasses of specially bred giant pigs are laid out as offerings in a traditional ceremony that honors ancient warriors.

The owner of the biggest pig wins the competition and with it an auspicious sign that the year to come will be a lucky one. Here are some of the scenes from the celebration.
