7 killed in car collision in Myanmar's southwestern region

Seven people have been killed and some 12 others injured as a car collided with a truck and an express vehicle in Danupyu town in Myanmar's southwestern Ayeyawaddy region, according to the official Global New Light of Myanmar Monday.

The accident happened at 8:45 p.m. local time Saturday, when a car carrying three passengers lost control and crashed into a stationary truck, and then into another express vehicle carrying 16 passengers on the other lane.

The driver and six others died on the spot, local police was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, another rear end collision occurred on the same spot on Sunday morning when a car with two people on board crashed into a stationary truck ahead, causing injuries.

That driver was also charged for reckless driving, the report added.
