The leading Party members group of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a meeting Friday to study a speech made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the fourth plenary session of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC.

Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and its leading Party members group secretary, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.

Participants agreed that it is a major political task for the leading Party members group of the CPPCC National Committee to thoroughly study the guiding principles of Xi's speech and put them into practice, said a statement issued after the meeting.

The CPPCC should ensure the implementation of major decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee on rigorous governance over the Party in all aspects and the whole process of its work.

The CPPCC should give better play to the roles of various political parties and organizations, as well as members of different ethnic groups and people from all walks of life, said the statement.
