Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un recently stressed the need for the army to focus on rounding off combat readiness this year, state media reported Monday.

Kim made the remarks at an enlarged meeting of the Central Military Commission of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea, according to the official KCNA news agency.

He underscored the need to make the Korean People's Army (KPA) "politically, ideologically and morally stronger as required by the developing reality."

He called on the army to stand ready for "any form of war to be ignited by the enemy" and clarified "methods of fighting a war with the U.S. imperialists," according to the KCNA.

"It was necessary to simplify the machinery of the KPA," Kim was quoted as saying, while also indicating ways for reorganizing the machinery to realize the strategic intention of the Supreme Command at any time. Enditem
