British Prime Minister Theresa May will chair a meeting of the nation's top security committee, following the attacks in central London on Saturday night.

Theresa said the incident is being treated as "a potential act of terrorism.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who will attend the meeting, released a statement thanking emergency services and condemning the "deliberate and cowardly attack.”

“We don't yet know the full details, but this was a deliberate and cowardly attack on innocent Londoners and visitors to our city enjoying their Saturday night. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. There is no justification whatsoever for such barbaric acts,” Khan said.

Meanwhile, US president Donald Trump took to Twitter, saying Washington will do whatever it can to help. The US State Department condemned what it called "the cowardly attacks" in a statement, and echoed Trump's readiness to provide any assistance that British authorities request.
