HK lowers travel alert for Thailand

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Thursday lowered the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for Thailand to amber.

The adjustment was made in view of the latest situation in Thailand, which, however, remains under martial law. "Hong Kong residents who intend to visit the country or are already there should monitor the situation, exercise caution, attend to personal safety and avoid protests and large gatherings of people," a government spokesman said.

The city's Security Bureau will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue updates through the media and the OTA webpage.

Under the three-color OTA system, black is the highest alert, red the middle, and amber the lowest.
