Three people were killed and five others wounded in a South Korean truck crash that caused fire, according to local media reports.

A five-ton truck carrying about 70 crude oil drums rammed into a median strip on the road in Changwon, about 400 km southeast of the capital Seoul, at about 1:20 p.m. local time.

After the crash, half of the drums fell over cars on the opposite side of the road leading to a tunnel around 1 km away.

It caused an explosion and fire. Nine passenger vehicles caught fire, which was extinguished some 40 minutes later.

Three people were confirmed dead, including the truck driver. Five others sustained minor injuries.

Witnesses reportedly said the truck zigzagged before the crash, indicating a brake flaw. The police was seeking to figure out the exact cause of the accident.
