Two Chinese tourists found dead in southern Iceland

Two Chinese nationals, a male and a female, were found dead on Thursday near a tourist attraction on Sólheimasandur beach, in southern Iceland, the Chinese embassy in Iceland said in a statement on Friday.

Their bodies were found near the DC Plane Wreck site. The cause of their death remains to be determined, the embassy said.

After being informed by the Icelandic police, the Chinese embassy quickly activated the emergency response mechanism and urged the local authorities to find out the cause of the deaths as soon as possible.

The embassy said it will maintain close contact with all related parties and do its best in terms of consular protection work.
