Gedor, 34, used to live in a remote pastoral area in Amdo County in northern Tibet with his family. Restricted by the living conditions, they earned a living by pasture and the low income of their small grocery store.

In late 2019, with the support of local authorities, 4,058 residents in Amdo and Co Nyi, two counties at a high altitude of over 4,500 meters, were relocated.

Now, Gedor and his family live a better life as their teahouse has been a popular spot with satisfactory income, and with the allowance from local authorities. (Xinhua/Zhan Yan)
