BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- As of 10:00 AM CET Sunday (9:00 AM GMT Monday), 105,586 confirmedcases were reported globally, with 80,859 in China and 24,727 outside of China;3,100 people have died of the disease in China, while484 deaths were recorded outside of China,according to the latest data from the World Health Organization(WHO).

MEXICO CITY -- As of Friday afternoon, 14 countries in the Americas, namely 12 in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the United States and Canada, had reported confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, according to a press release of the Pan-America Health Organization (PAHO) -- the regional office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

CANBERRA --According to the Australian Department of Health, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 had grown to 80 as of 11 a.m. local time Monday (12:00 AM GMT Monday).
The Australian government has confirmed a coronavirus stimulus package to support businesses affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg on Monday confirmed.
The "substantial" package, which could be worth up to 10 billion Australian dollars (6.4 billion U.S. dollars), is expected to be announced within a week.

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA --The Grand Princess cruise ship, with21 passengers on board tested positive for COVID-19,is expected to reach the port of Oakland, Californiaon Monday, after idling off San Francisco for days. The ship, back from Hawaii,is carrying more than 3,500 people from 54 countries.
Canada will send a chartered plane to bring home the 237 Canadians on board.

TOKYO --Japanese local governments said Monday that the number of COVID-19 infections increased by 33 as of the latest tally to stand at a total of 480 infected people in Japan as of 10:30 a.m. local time here (1:30 AM GMT Monday).
The death toll in Japan from the virus currently stands at 14, while 311 people have been discharged from hospitals after their symptoms improved, according to the health ministry.
MANILA --Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the executive order and declared a state of public health emergency after the country's Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the local COVID-19 transmission in the country, his spokesperson said on Monday.
On Saturday, the Philippines raised the COVID-19 alert system to code red sub-level 1 after more cases were detected.

PARIS --France, where more than 1,000 positive cases of coronavirus have been detected, would put a temporary ban on public gatherings of more than 1,000 people to contain the outbreak, Health Minister Olivier Veran announced on Sunday.

ROME --Italy started on Sunday morning to lock down the northern Lombardy region and 14 nearby provinces.
In total, Italy reported 7,375 accumulated COVID-19 cases, including deaths and recoveries, since the epidemic first broke out on Feb. 21. 133 more people succumbed to the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 366. A total of 622 people have recovered, an increase of 33 from Saturday.
