At least 28 people are feared dead after a private bus plunged into a gorge on Thursday at Khanetri in northern India, local media reported.

Several others were injured in the accident.

The bus, carrying more than 50 people, was en route to Solan from Kinnaur before it skidded off the road and into the gully.

Local officials said rescue operations are underway.
