Indian Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy has claimed that Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is the choice of India. He made such remarks on his Twitter platform on Tuesday afternoon.

His statement comes at a time when Nepali leaders have been exercising power-sharing after Oli lost the vote of confidence in the parliament on Monday.

He wrote, "According my knowledge about Nepal, Oli was India's choice. If Prachanda become PM then China has won."

He mentioned Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' as China's choice though Dahal is nowhere in the race of becoming the next Prime Minister at the moment. Dahal has been rather supporting the major opposition party Nepali Congress.

Swamy's tweet has raised a fresh storm among Nepali Twitter users. His tweet has been shared nearly 1,000 times, with almost 700 replies, particularly from Nepali public.

Swamy was a minister in the central cabinet earlier. He is one among the leaders who look after the foreign affairs of BJP.

Indian concern and interference is sharply realized in Nepali politics, time and again. The latest comment also signifies the same, as per the observers.

Issuing a notice on Monday evening, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari called a member of parliament to stake claim for the new prime minister by May 13.

As per the constitutional provision, the candidate needs to submit signatures of majority lawmakers belonging to two or more political parties in parliament. The main opposition party Nepali Congress has decided to form a government under its leadership, and doing exercise for the same.
