Russia has confirmed 8,863 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising its total to 423,741, its coronavirus response center said in a statement Tuesday.
The death toll increased by 182 to 5,037, while 186,985 people have recovered, including 11,108 over the last 24 hours, according to the statement.
Moscow, the country's worst-hit region, reported 2,286 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking its total to 185,374.
As of Monday, 304,657 people were under medical observation, while more than 11.1 million lab tests for COVID-19 have been conducted nationwide, Russia's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said in a statement Tuesday.
The pandemic situation throughout the country remains stable, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said Monday at an online meeting of the coronavirus response coordinating council.
Mishustin said the spread of the virus is gradually declining, which gives reason for cautious optimism.
According to the prime minister, 19 out of Russia's 85 regions have begun to phase out quarantine restrictions, while another 25 regions are planning to do so.
