Both sides of the harbourfront were fraught with spectators for the biggest ever countdown firework and pyrotechnic show of Hong Kong on Tuesday, the last day of 2013.

Once again the iconic Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) were at the focal point of the display. Starting from 11pm of the New Year's Eve, pyrotechnic "shooting stars" of four different colors from seven buildings on the Hong Kong Island every 15 minutes, representing better career prospects, health, fortune and love affairs in the coming year.

As the clock struck 12 am, the long awaited eight-minute long "pyrotechnic musical kicked off on the Victoria Harbour. Pyrotechnics esclated from seven buildings around the HKCEC, while the numerals "2014" flickered on the LED screen facing the harbour.

"Firework" element was added into the show for the first time alongside pyrotechics, enabling the arrays of beams to rise higher with two explosions. Heart and smiley shapes of fireworks interspersed among the pyrotechnics.

Akin to the previous year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the tourism promoting body of the city and the organizer of the event, arranged live stellite feed to international TV stations, in a bid to share the pictures of splendid fireworks with the rest of the world.
