King of Glory, a multi-player online battle arena (MOBA) game launched by Tencent Game in 2015, has been frequently seen on the list of the Top 50 trending topics on Weibo, China's Twitter-like social media platform. The game is in vogue in China, attracting over 200 million players who registered with their real names. It has been occupying the top positions on the lists of most downloaded game apps on the iOS App Store and Android App store.

Why King of Glory is so popular?

**1.

Convenient to Play**

With smart phones at hands, players can play the game anytime they want, whether they are waiting for the bus, or taking the subway.

**2.

Exquisite Workmanship **

The characters in the game have exquisitely designed appearances. Moreover, the game launches new skins every season, offering players a visual feast.

**3.

Impressive Lines**

Every character in the game has his/her own story and lines. For example, the heroine Angela always says “A woman’s soul in a little girl’s body”, that’s because the witch Merlin injected her soul into Angela's body.

**4.

Teamwork Spirit**

King of Glory is not about one man’s battle. It puts a team to the test. What’s more, a player can invite his/her friends to join the game.

**5.

Attractive Ranking System**

Players can improve their skills and rankings in the game all the time, and thus obtain a sense of achievement.

However, the game has been widely criticized. People's Daily denounced that it distorted history and values and poisoned the young minds.

Parents are also concerned that their children may be addicted to the game. According to a recent report, the game has ten million active users daily, who were born after the year 2000.

Faced with these problems, Tencent has taken measures to limit the hours of children playing the game.

There are positive reports as well. For example, King of Glory can help promote China's soft power, for many foreigners have started learning Chinese language and history, in order to play the game.
