After Olympique Lyon beat Manchester City on Saturday and advanced to the UEFA Champions League semifinals, the team's goalkeeper, Antony Lopes, did not hide the joy of having surprised the English side.
"It is incredible because we are clearly the surprise team. Most people didn't believe that we could be at that level at this point in the competition," he said.
"As I said in the game against Juventus, we will continue to believe and do what we have to do. It is better to recover with a victory; now we will preserve ourselves for the next game," he concluded.
For coach Rudi Garcia, even though they were not favorites, it was always important to believe in what the team could deliver on the field.
"I am very proud; we did very well tonight, against a great team and against a great coach who is Pep Guardiola," Garcia said.
"It is a great, great result for us. And we were not all favorites, but we believe in our group, in our football. We always gave everything on the field, and the team's spirit was fantastic," celebrate the coach.
Olympique Lyon now faces Bayern Munich next Wednesday in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League 2020.
