Trial of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood leaders adjourned over absence of defendants

The trial of the top leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), from which ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi hails, was adjourned to Oct. 29 over the absence of defendants for security reasons, state TV reported.

A few minutes after the first session opened on Sunday morning, the lawyers asked for adjourning the trial as the defendants have the right to attend.

For security reasons, the Islamist MB's General Guide Mohamed Badie, who was arrested Tuesday, along with his two deputies, Khairat al-Shater and Mohamed Saad al-Katatni, didn't appear at the Cairo Criminal Court on Sunday morning.

The suspects will face criminal charges including inciting violence and killing anti-Morsi protesters outside the Muslim Brotherhood's Guidance Bureau, according to a prosecution statement on Friday.
