The Greenwood district of Tulsa, in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, also known as “Black Wall Street,”was burned to the ground by an angry white mob on May 31, 1921.

U.S. President Biden is preparing to make the trip to the state of Oklahoma Tuesday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre.

More than 300 people were killed in the thriving all-Black town that had been established at the end of the Civil War in 1865 and with the abolition of slavery in the United States.
