Afghan president meets Russian especial envoy in Kabul

Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Wednesday met with visiting Russian special envoy to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov in Arg, the country's presidential palace, to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation between the two nations.

"The president and ambassador Kabulov also discussed the peace process with the Taliban, enhancing the cooperation between regional countries during the meeting," said a statement issued by Arg here.

Karzai also reiterated the need of cooperation and harmonization between countries at the region, the statement added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kabulov met with acting Afghan Foreign Minister Zarar Ahmad Usmani. In the meeting, Usmani said Afghanistan attaches great importance to presence of Russia in economic and development sector of Afghanistan, a foreign ministry statement said.
