Northeast China's Shulan City in Jilin Province announced Sunday that it will start implementing closed-off management after one new coronavirus case was confirmed in the city on May 7, and Jilin reported 11 new local transmitted cases on Saturday.
Provincial officials also adjusted the coronavirus risk level in Shulan City to high on Sunday.
Local authorities said that they will conduct a thorough investigation of all residents living in Shulan and perform contact tracing on those who were in close contacts with the newly diagnosed patients.
They also ordered all public places like sporting facilities, scenic areas, movie theaters and libraries will be temporarily closed. All residents should stay home, except under unusual circumstances. Students in their last year of middle or senior high schools will return to take classes online.
The local government vowed to satisfy all residents' daily needs while implementing the new restrictions.
