A car exploded in Ukraine’s capital Kiev on Tuesday morning, killing the driver and reportedly injuring at least two other people.

The driver was severely injured in the blast in Solomyansky district and later died, local police confirmed. Police later said the man was a Ukrainian enlisted man.

The case was being investigated as a "terrorist attack," Ukrainian prosecutors said. The cause of the blast was however still unknown.

Investigators work at the scene of the car bomb explosion.

One elderly person was injured in the attack and sent to the hospital according to local police, but that person's life was not in danger.

Some media said two people besides the driver of the car were injured, but police have not confirmed that.
