The ruling Brazilian Workers' Party (PT) on Thursday denied the alleged involvement in a bribery scheme related to state-controlled oil and gas giant Petrobras.

According to an official statement released by the PT, it refuted the accusations by Petrobras' former supply director Paulo Roberto Costa, who has revealed details about the corruption scandal.

According to Costa, three percent of Petrobras'contracts were used for bribes, with two thirds of that amount being directed to the PT.

PT President Rui Falcao said Costa has no proof of his accusations and questioned the several incidents of denouncements in court, the statement said.

"The PT denies completely the accusations that we received financial deposits originated from Petrobras contracts," the party stated. "All donations to the Workers' Party follow legal rules."

The PT's presidential candidate and the incumbent Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who led in the first round of presidential elections last weekend, has entered the run-off with her rival Aecio Neves.
