56 Boko Haram suspects arrested in central Nigeria

Nigerian police have arrested 56 persons suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect in central part of the country.

The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State Emmanuel Ojukwu told the media in Lokoja, the state capital on Tuesday that the suspects were arrested from their various hideouts in Obajana village, a suburb of Lokoja.

Ojukwu said the police action was triggered by a gun attack on a police patrol vehicle in Obajana by some of the suspects on Sept. 14. A police inspector was killed during the attack.

The commissioner said police have recovered dangerous weapons and drugs in the operation and the suspects would be charged to court soon. Enditem
