Cloned Jinhua pigs born in east China

A surrogate pig gave birth to seven cloned baby Jinhua pigs, November 23, in Dongyang, east China's Zhejiang Province. /VCG

The baby pigs, along with four born three days earlier, are China's first cloned purebred Jinhua pigs from frozen somatic cells. /VCG

Back in July, Chinese scientists produced 838 cloned embryos from adult somatic cells preserved in liquid nitrogen since April 2019. /VCG

The embryos were then transferred to four surrogate pigs, of which one miscarried, two have already given birth, while one is still expecting. /VCG
