MANILA, July 10 (APD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police confirmed initial information about the identity of one of the bombers in Indanan, Sulu last June 28.
In a joint press briefing at Camp Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City Wednesday afternoon, it was learned that after a thorough investigation and forensic examination conducted by the Regional Crime Laboratory of Police Regional Office 11, it was learned one of the suicide bombers in the 1st Brigade Combat Team was a Filipino.
AFP Spokesman Brig. General Edgard Arevalo and PNP Spokesman Colonel Bernard Banac hosted the joint briefing.
The PNP Regional Crime Laboratory Office No. 11 said in a report that reference DNA standards were taken from Vilman Alam Lasuca and Alhussin Alam Lasuca, mother and brother of one of the suspected suicide bombers.
According to the report, the DNA results examined by Forensic DNA analyst Police Major Florepes Pallado concluded that there is a 99.99% probability match on the DNA sample taken from Vilman and samples from the alleged suicide bomber.
“Hence, it can be concluded that one of the alleged suicide bombers is the son of Vilman Alam Lasuca,” RCLO 11 said in its laboratory report.
On the other hand, the identification of the second suspected bomber is still going on as the AFP-PNP continue to collect DNA samples from the possible known family and relatives to establish the person’s identity.
It will be recalled the twin suicide bombings last Friday, June 28 left eight people, including three soldiers and three civilians dead while 22 others were injured.
